Our Story

After months of filling out paperwork and preparing for the worst, we finally got word that our visa had been approved! We were so excited to start our new life in Australia. We packed up our belongings and said goodbye to our friends and family.

It was definitely a change moving to a new country, but we soon settled into our new home. These are the reasons we chose to move to Australia rather than anywhere else in the world.

Why We Chose Australia

The Healthcare System

The healthcare system in Australia is one of the best in the world. It is a universal system, meaning that all citizens or permanent residents are entitled to free or subsidized medical care. The government also provides free dental care for children and seniors. In addition, there are a number of health insurance schemes that cover the cost of private healthcare.

The Salary

Salaries in Australia are high compared to many other countries around the world and the standard of living is incredible. We live in a beautiful private home that we could have never afforded someplace else, and It’s true what they say about having a good work-life balance here.

The Weather

We moved to Perth, so we have the best weather in Australia! It’s sunny and beautiful and we can go to the beach almost whenever we want. The waters are blue and the coastline is absolutely stunning.

The Food

From quandongs and warrigal greens to lilly pilly and Illawarra plums, the food here is really good and interesting. Australian cuisine has been Influenced by the traditional foods of the indigenous population, as well as by the cuisines of the many different immigrants who have made Australia their home. As a result, Australian food is incredibly diverse, with something to suit every taste.

The Landscapes

One of the best ways to experience the country’s unique landscapes is by taking a road trip, which is what we did. The Great Ocean Road, for instance, winds along Victoria’s spectacular coastline, offering stunning views of the Southern Ocean. Or for a true taste of the outback, head to Northern Territory and explore Kakadu National Park, with its world-famous rock art sites.

There are many different types of visas, and it can be difficult to know which one is right for you. Fortunately, there are many resources available to help you through the process. One of these is UIS Australia, an online immigration company that helped us with our process.

We applied for the Subclass 189 visa (General Skilled Migration) which is a permanent residency work visa. After my husband received his visa, we applied for my permanent residence card.

Ron Ford

Ron Ford immigrated with his family to Australia in 2005 to work as a social worker. Following their difficult immigration process, he slowly turned to blogging and creating content about immigration: "…As a family of 5, we struggled to make ends meet. I was working around the clock and Clarissa was working in housekeeping any time she could spare. The move to Australia completely changed our lives, but it cost us a lot of money, time, and tears. Ever since I've wanted to help others on their journeys the way I wished someone had helped us".
